Tips: thumbs and the space bar
Thumbs only need one job done well: a light, consistent space. Messy spacing wrecks rhythm and accuracy stats.
Simple rules
- Rest both thumbs near the space bar; strike with one preferred thumb consistently.
- Use a light tap — you do not need to bottom-out the key hard.
- Avoid using an index finger for spaces; it pulls your hand off home row.
Spacing and flow
Double spaces and missed spaces often come from rushing. If your accuracy dips on sentence mode, slow the space key deliberately for a few lines until the timing returns.
