Tips: pinky strength and reach
Pinkies handle edge keys (Q, A, Z, P, and many Shift/Enter neighbors). Training them unlocks accuracy.
Why pinkies matter
Weak or lazy pinkies push neighboring fingers to cheat. That creates uneven rhythm and frequent misses on punctuation, Shift combinations, and edge letters.
Form checklist
- Keep pinkies curved and light — do not collapse them flat onto the board.
- Use pinky for its keys even when ring finger "feels stronger."
- For Shift, prefer the opposite-hand pinky when possible so the letter finger stays free.
Build strength gently
Short, accurate drills beat heavy pounding. If the pinky tires, rest and resume — fatigue causes bad habits faster than slow practice does.
