Tips: numbers and symbols

The number row and Shift symbols are late skills for many typists — treat them as their own mini-course.

Number row reaches

Numbers sit above the top letter row. Reach with the same finger column you use for the letter below when you can (for example, left index covers 4/5 territory alongside R/T). Return to home after every number.

Symbols and Shift

• Learn a few high-value symbols first: @ . , ? ! ' " -.
• Practice opposite-hand Shift so letter fingers stay on target.
• Expect slower WPM on symbol-heavy lines — accuracy is the win.

Course and pangram lines introduce punctuation naturally. When Premium problem-character stats highlight a symbol, give that key a few focused minutes the next day.
