Accuracy before speed
Fast mistakes are expensive. Clean technique first; speed follows muscle memory.
The cost of errors
Every typo usually costs a backspace plus a retype — often more time than typing the key correctly once at a slightly slower pace. Aim for high accuracy (many coaches suggest 95%+) before chasing new WPM records.
A simple progression
- Slow down until fingers hit the right keys without peeking.
- Hold that accuracy for several sessions.
- Nudge speed up a little; if accuracy falls, ease back.
Using site stats
Watch accuracy in your daily charts. If WPM climbs while accuracy slides, treat that as a signal to rebuild form — not as pure progress.
